Adult Basic Education

This program is designed to meet the needs of adults (18 years or older), who have a 9th grade education or less. Anyone who is looking to improve their basic skills in reading, writing, grammar, and/or mathematics may enroll. This program is free and will help students prepare to get their high school diploma or get into a GED preparatory class.

Adult High School Diploma

This program enables an individual to enroll back into high school to ear their Diploma. They will complete courses required to graduate with state standards. It also provides current High School students with an opportunity to recover courses or allow early completion.

Students may attend school either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Students are required to attend every class with the exception of 3 absences per semester (six per year). Class grades will be issued at the end of the term. Each course passed will earn one credit.

English Language Acquisition classes provide free lessons to foreign speaking adults who are motivated to improve skills in reading, writing, and communication. English Language Acquisition students are placed in the appropriate level courses (beginning, intermediate, or advanced) based on their performance and communication on the basic English skills test or (B.E.S.T).

Obtaining your GED offers a chance of furthering your education. You are likely to get accepted into a college with a GED which can lead to more job opportunities. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, those who have a GED or high school diploma, can expect to earn more per year than those without either.

What are the requirements to take classes for a High School diploma?

Adult students must be 18 or older and have a minimum of 13 credits.

When may I register for classes?

All courses will be 18 weeks. You may start applying in mid-August. Second Semester registration will begin in January.

When is Granby High Evening School closed?

Following the NPS Academic Calendar, Granby Evening School is closed only if NPS is closed!
